On the face of it this is simply the 525 Cat with a modified hull side window profile. We believe that the differences from the original 525 Cat design deserves a dedicated webpage for several reasons. These changes are based upon many years of sailing experience by the owners who have documented their travels and in doing so have built up a huge following………..!! We’re super excited by the opportunity to work with great sailors and feel that the requested modifications to this design will take it in a new direction.
The term DS refers to features incorporated whereby Diving and a huge Solar Array on the deckhouse roof take centre stage. There is a new fixed platform on the aft side of the seat backrest/bulwark, inside which is dedicated storage for a 6 dive tanks plus related dive gear. The liferaft also fits neatly into this space. The roof extension allows for integral lifting beams and once raised the 12’ dinghy is stowed in retractable chocks. All these features are shown in the various renders.
The aft deck lounge has a new layout with seating for many! It’s hardly apt to call this the aft cockpit when there is no sail-handling gear anywhere to be seen in this space.
Further there have been subtle modifications in the deckhouse area plus the longeron now houses a single anchor with internal channel for the chain leading to a recess on deck for the windlass.
Our plan packages are carefully detailed and together with the comprehensive build kit information (assembly drawings and nested CNC cutting files) most skilled yacht-builders will have no trouble putting together your perfect cruising home.
