13m Mussel Barge – Design #138
Our designs for the marine farming industry are focussed on the tough marine environment they have to operate in and are fully compliant with the relevant Maritime NZ standards.
Oyster barges that operate in “enclosed” water limits have reduced freeboard requirements which allows the operator’s better access to the oyster racks. As you can see from the photo’s this barge actually has a moveable gangway to facilitate access to the oyster beds. It’s a tough job standing in the water in all types of weather for hours on end……but someone has to do it!
