11.7metre QRV RHIB – Design #083
An exciting step up from the 9.0m and 9.5m QRV RHIB’s designed and built by the DVDesign/AMF Boats collaboration, initially for CGNZ’s Napier unit.
Powered by twin 480Hp diesel engines and Hamilton 322 jet units the 1170 QRV RIB has a top speed of 40 knots (at design load) and a cruise speed of 26 – 28 knots. This design has an extremely soft-riding hull which makes for a comfortable and seaworthy vessel. The Napier CG unit have undertaken some long and arduous rescues in this boat.
A second version of this design was built for Taranaki CG at New Plymouth and further examples have been built for SAR use in the Middle East.
This 9.5m QRV RHIB design was the next cab off the rank for CGNZ QRV RHIB’s in terms of the collaboration between DVDesign and AMF Boats.
Slightly larger all round than the earlier 9.0m WaterJet QRV RHIB, this design is outboard powered resulting in a larger aft deck area for rescue operations. Further there is a bow cockpit accessed via a large hatch at the forward end of the cuddy cabin area. Like the earlier design the open back hardtop can accommodate 4 to 6 crew members.
Originally developed for the CG Northshore unit in Auckland this design is in use by 5 other CGNZ units.
