Seawind Endurance 53 – Design #232
This unique design is the first in a range of high-latitude capable cruising catamarans backed by none other than Seawind Cats. For De Villiers this is an exciting new venture and justification in our conviction that marine-grade aluminium is the ultimate building material for a go-anywhere ocean voyaging catamaran.
Those with a keen eye will have noticed that this design bears a significant resemblance to our 525 Alloy Cat design. In fact the hull is identical but we have completely redesigned the deckhouse and aft deck area. Gone is the forward sailing cockpit in favour or twin aft helming areas. The port side helm pivots from the low position to an upper helm position for increased visibility when required. All of the sail control lines are led aft through the house side window sill coamings to dedicated winching stations alongside each helm.
The deckhouse roof extends aft to cover the aft deck lounging area which allows for a 3000 Watt solar array. On this first iteration of the Endurance 53 design there is a dedicated workshop/office shown in the port forward cabin which could easily be reconfigured to increase the sleeping capacity from 4 to 6.
As with our other alloy Cat designs the inherent safety features remain ie. skeg-protected rudders and props, 6x watertight compartments, rugged alloy construction and exceptional underwing clearance etc.
If you have plans to cruise far and wide, off the beaten track then this is the boat for you!
