Finally announced in March 2024 – this is Delos 2.0!! Something we have been keeping under wraps for the past 18 months! This variant of the 525 Cat design has indeed been up on our website, described as the Dive/Solar or DS version. What you see here now is the NEW DELOS Explorer 53…..something we have been discussing with Brian and Karin for several years and working toward since early 2023.

Brian first saw our 62’ Cat design (#067 – ex Elcie, now Sealegacy1) back in 2019 pre-Covid when she looking for new owners. He spent a good few hours deeply immersed on Elcie and I recall him being suitably impressed with what he saw.
In his words “I have been through every single locker and poked around all over this boat…….Man this is the most practical and well thought out cruising Catamaran I have ever seen! Love the strong aluminium hull, love the forward sail-handling cockpit and love the protected rudders and props”. I reckon that was probably the day that Delos 2.0 became a multihull!

This variation of our original 525 Cat was actually completed in October 2023, complete with the Dive Platform aft, the extended deckhouse roof for maximum Solar capacity and integral roof lifting beams for the dinghy. Roll on a few months, in early 2024 we met with Brian and Karin at Stradbroke Yachts in Brisbane. There they got to see hull #1 just completed. The Delos team had some new ideas and so a raft of further upgrades commenced, including the roof water catchment arrangement, internal W/T doors to the forepeaks, revisions to the aft deck lounge layout to create an outdoor BBQ area and not forgetting the change to a hybrid power system.

So what you see here is the culmination of 18 months of discussion and planning. The Delos team have huge experience and know what is needed to continue their cruising lifestyle and extend their horizons beyond tradewind sailing. If you choose this design for your own cruising endeavours then rest assured, the hard decisions have been well considered.

Our plan packages are carefully detailed and together with the comprehensive build kit information (assembly drawings and nested CNC cutting files) most skilled yacht-builders will have no trouble putting together your perfect cruising home. We are available to discuss any of the questions you have.
